Reserve Officer ProgramQUALIFICATIONS: Determined by Iowa Code Chapter 80D and the Clarion Police Reserve Standards are as follows.
Eligibility Requirements
Membership Application Membership in the Clarion Police Reserve shall be open to any person of good character, with a minimum age of eighteen who is physically and mentally capable of performing the duties associated with this organization. Prospective members shall have lived within the designated area for at least one year. Prospective members shall have a high school education or a GED certificate. Prospective members shall agree to a criminal history and driving record investigation. Prospective members shall live within a five mile radius of the limits of Clarion. (mile radius limit may be waived upon application and approval of the Chief of Police)
Admission as a Member All prospective members shall be sponsored by one regular Police Officer. All applications shall be reviewed by the Chief of Police and Reserve Coordinator. The members shall review the application and vote on the application. The prospective member will be required to pass a physical agility test (This test is established by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for regular Police Officers) The prospective member shall pass a physical examination by a medical physician.
Duties The member shall serve a minimum of four hours of duty each month. The member shall pass the Reserve Police Officer Training as set by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. No more than three meetings in a year may be missed without approval of the Reserve Coordinator.
